摘要:
This paper gives a detailed description of the project on computer-assisted oral English test conducted in Wuhan Polytechnic University. The project indicated the advantages of computer-assisted oral English testing over face-to-face spoken English test, as well as weak points and problems to be discussed. At the end of this paper, some tentative suggestions are made on how to conduct large-scale computer-assisted oral English test with both high reliability and validity to develop students oral English ability in universities and colleges in China.

Computer network security is of great importance for many users. As continuous development of computer network applications, more and more factors which endanger computer network security have emerged. This paper will mainly introduce such factors as hacker attack, network virus, system vulnerability etc. On this basis, the utilization of prevention technology of computer network security will be analyzed.

摘要:
Computer assisted language learning provides the primary motive for the reform and development of English (as a second language) teaching. The present paper explores and compares the characteristics of traditional language teaching and computer assisted language learning and points out their advantages and shortcomings respectively. It comes to a conclusion that only by integrating those two teaching models in our language teaching can we cultivate fresh language talents that are skilled and useful in the development of our society.

摘要:
Nowadays online writing has become a new way of developing one's writing ability. Through structured evaluation of an online writing resource site, this paper attempts to analyze the writing as a process, as a genre and its practicability in Chinese context. It turns out that writing is a social practice rather than a solitary activity. Learners will gain new insight into writing and it also has pedagogical significance for the teachers.

In classroom, students do more listening than reading. Listening competence is “larger” than speaking. The significance of listening in second language acquisition can never be overestimated. Listening comprehension has been a focus for college English learning for years in China. With the information obtained from listening, learners build up their own linguistic system and are ready to retrieve whatever they want when they speak and write. There are many factors that affect listening, among which materials play a key role in facilitating listening comprehension. In order to achieve the final goal of promoting listening competence, teacher must realize that listening materials should be tailored to the needs of individuals. Based on the exploration of the nature of listening comprehension, this paper verifies the elements hindering learners’ listening competence on the basis of the need analysis and Krashen’s input hypothesis. With a questionnaire conducted at Wuhan Polytechnic University ,and the author accordingly concludes that a feasible materials should meet the learners’ requirements so that the enhancement of listening comprehension can be achievd.

摘要:
Cultivating students' intercultural communication competence (ICC) is the focus of college English teaching. As the textbook is seen as the major vehicle to transmit culture, importance has been attached to the presentation of culture in textbooks, which looms large in students' ICC. Based on two surveys, the author finds that positive aspects of foreign culture and native culture are presented in textbooks, however, foreign culture is so much in proportion to native culture that ultimately results in students' failure in ICC. Teachers shoul balance two cultures in teaching, and launch a dialogue between them on the basis of the choice, intergration and balanced utilization of the two cultures. With the two-culture-dialogue, students can promote their ICC effectively.

The 21st century has witnessed the widespread use of computer technology. A lot of universities have incorporate computers into foreign language teaching and learning. Researches have put more emphasis on the study of the feasibility and validity of computer-assisted foreign language learning (CALL). However, few have been involved into its role of teachers, still less the role of translation teachers. This paper focuses on elaborating the changing role of translation teachers in the context of CALL based on a comparative study.
