A novel dimeric diarylheptanoid (E)-3-[3-(3-methoxy-4-hydroxyphenyl)prop-1- enyl]-2,4,6-triphenethylpyridine (1), named officinine B, was isolated from the rhizomes of Alpinia officinarum Hance.
