Background: Interaction between astrocyte and neuron may two-dimensionally influence on ischemic injury; however, glial fibriliary acidic protein (GFAP) and cytosolic phospholipase A2 (cPLA2) are both important markers to reflect changes of astrocyte and neuron after cerebral ischemia, respectively.
