Objective: To study the reducing uric acid effect of theaflavins on hyperuricemia mice. Methods Hyperuricemia mice model was induced by potassium oxazinate. Theaflavins were fed to rats for 7 d with theaflavins at low, medium, and high doses (6, 20, and 60 mg/kg) and allopurinol (10 mg/kg) continuously. The serum uric acid (UA), urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine (CRE), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels in mice were determined to evaluate the uric acid-lowering effect of theaflavins.
