A series of tests were conducted, swelling, shrinkage and desiccation cracking, to evaluate swelling, shrinkage and cracking properties of the compacted clay. Based on the results of swelling tests, swelling process of the compacted clay substantially showed the "S" type with time. The results of shrinkage tests showed that shrinkage of the compacted clay divided into three stages, which was normal shrinkage stage, residual shrinkage stage, and zero shrinkage stage. The molding water content and soil compaction degree had significantly effects on swelling and shrinkage of the clay. The results...
