The effects of pyrolysis temperature on properties and adsorption performance of carbonized bacterial cellulose (CBC) produced from bacterial cellulose at 300, 400, 600 and 800 degrees C were investigated. As pyrolysis temperature increased, the BET surface area, C and ash contents of CBC increased while its mass yield and the contents of H, N and O decreased. Higher pyrolysis temperature resulted in CBC having more aromatic structure and less hydrophilic.
