Schizochytrium sp. is a hopeful docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) producing candidate due to its rapid growth rate and high DHA proportion in total lipid content. In this study, low-energy ion implantation was applied to Schizochytrium sp. to induce high DHA-producing mutants.
