Colistin has broad-spectrum activity against Gram-negative bacteria and has been considered as the last-resort treatment for multiantibiotic-resistant Gram-negative bacteria infections in human. And it is also world widely utilized as a veterinary medicine for the promotion of growth, prevention and control of diseases in livestock and poultry.
