CF 3 SO 2 F (trifluoromethanesulfonyl fluoride) is a novel substitute to SF 6 . The AC breakdown tests of pure CF 3 SO 2 F, CF 3 SO 2 F/N 2 , and CF 3 SO 2 F/CO 2 mixtures in a slightly non-uniform electric field were done. The effects of pressure, electrode distance, and mixing ratio on the breakdown characteristics of the CF 3 SO 2 F mixtures were obtained and compared with SF 6 .
