In this section, the uniaxial compression behaviors of concrete with different cross-section diameters (D = 100, 150, 200, 300, 450 mm), height-diameter ratios (H/D = 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0) and friction coefficients (μ = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.5, 0.8, ∞) are simulated using the aforementioned verified mesoscale numerical model. The purpose of this work is to examine the quantitative influence of contact friction on the compressive strength of concrete and the corresponding size effect under uniaxial compression. The concrete mesoscale concretization model (CMCM) is established to consider the heterogeneity of meso-components based on the statistical distribution and local spatial correlation theory.
