为确保湖北省林业资源的可持续健康发展，必须深入研究该省林业现代化的发展水平，以制定科学的林业资源发展规划。本研究通过因子分析方法，使用两个维度——省份与时间进行比较分析。在省份维度上，通过测算各个省（区、市）的林业现代化综合得分，将湖北省与我国其他23个省、自治区、直辖市的林业现代化发展水平进行横向比较；在时间维度上，通过测算湖北省2012～2021年间林业现代化发展水平指数，分析比较湖北省的发展禀赋优势和不足，为湖北省的林业现代化发展规划提供更加丰富的数据，以供参考。
