Ni-P based alloy coatings on the surface of carbon steel were prepared by electroless deposition method and their microstructure, chemistry and corrosion behaviors were investigated using scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), linear polarization, cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical noise techniques, respectively. The bath solution chemistry was found to play a significant role in the microstructure and properties of the electroless Ni-P and Ni-P-Zn coatings.
