In this paper, a Stochastic Petri Net (SPN) model is constructed to analyze the performance of Border Gateway Protocol - Satellite version (BGP-S) in satellite networks. Then, the effects of satellite coverage angle, data packet size, network data rate on average time delay and average throughput are also analyzed using Stochastic Petri Net Package (SPNP) 6.0. Furthermore, a NS-2-based simulation is implemented to validate the correctness of the SPN model. The numerical results of the SPN model show a good match to simulation results of NS-2. Because of its easiness and accuracy, the proposed ...
