A new macrocyclic dinuclear Zn(II) complex is synthesized by the cyclocondensation between 3,3 '(ethane-1,2-diylbis (benzylazanediyl))bis(methylene) bis (2-hydroxy-5-methyl-benzaldehyde) and 1,3-diaminopropane and the subsequent with zinc salts. The as-prepared complex is characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, ES-MS and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The complex consists of one independent molecular unit of [Zn-2(mu-OAC)L](+) ClO4- and two water molecules with one on a symmetry element.
