列维那斯有关女性的论述包含激进的思想,这些论述对女性主义理论具有一定的借鉴价值。然而,列维那斯不是一贯的激进,而是由早期的激进转向后期的保守,最终将女性以及性爱从他的伦理学中排除,只保留了母性和性爱的有效性。从女性主义的角度看,列维那斯的他者不是彻底的他者。针对列维那斯的他者伦理学,依利加雷提出了女性主义批判。
