A theoretical investigation on the nonlinear pulse propagation and the influences of the dispersion effect on the dispersive wave generation in photonic crystal fibers is presented. By simulating the dispersive wave generation under different dispersion property conditions, it is found the origin of the dispersive wave generation is mainly due to the effect of higher-order dispersion and the pulse trapping.
