First, this study is the first to investigate the SNPs of FecB gene in mutton from Xilingol indigenous sheep breeds. Second, in order to develop an efficient high‐throughput technique for identification of the mutations in the FecB gene in mutton, a novel TaqMan real‐time PCR technique was designed inferred from breed‐conservative primers and SNP‐specific probes.
