Protein hydrolysate has been a premium protein source in animal feed and is more easily absorbed in animal intestines compared with crude protein, which has a higher rate of pure protein and free amino acids with a high protein efficiency ratio. Previous studies have shown that black soldier fly larvae have been considered one of the most promising proteins for replacing fish meal, especially in the pet market.
