The surfactant assisted synthesis of MoS2 nanospheres with improved lithium storage properties

摘要:
A facile process was developed to synthesize MoS2 nanospheres by a simple PVP assisted hydrothermal method. The samples were characterized by XRD, SEM and Electrochemical tests. SEM demonstrates that the obtained MoS2 has sphere-like morphology in the presence of surfactant PVP. Electrochemical measurements show that the initial discharge capacity of the MoS2 nanospheres is 1915.1, 895.8 and 761.6 mAh g-1 at current densities of 100, 400 and 800 mA g-1, respectively. Meanwhile, it is found that the MoS2 nanospheres have improved rate capacity and cycle stability.

摘要:
To be able to predict tribological properties of new lubricant additives as well as clarify lubricating mechanisms, one needs to study the relationship between structures of lubricant additives and their lubricating properties. With a focus on estimating antiwear properties of some heterocyclic additives, we use the quantitative structure tribo-ability relationship (QSTR) model to predict tribological data, which introduces the idea of computer-aided design into tribology. This is combined with back propagation neural network (BPNN), a machine-learning method that offers simplicity and robustness. This study determined the feasibility and predictability of developing the BPNN QSTR model to estimate lubricant additive antiwear properties. For 36 additives, 90 structural descriptors, such as octanol-water partition coefficient, quantum indices, 2D topological indices, and 3D Jurs descriptors, were included as BPNN inputs. Antiwear parameters include wear-scar diameters under three loads. Leave-one-out cross-validation was performed to evaluate accuracy and robustness of this BPNN QSTR model. We also evaluate the descriptor sensitivities, from which we can determine the effects of each descriptor and clarify wearing mechanisms. 摘要:
The adsorption of freshwater fish scales were used to remove Hg in industrial wastewater. The effects of pH, shaking time, initial concentration on the adsorption Hg onto freshwater fish scale were investigated. In these conditions, by varying the pH of the mercury(II) solutions from 2 to 8, the removal efficiency remained higher than 96%. Optimal adsorption capacity was 117.2 mg g-1 at pH 6.0. Characterization of the biosorbent fish scales was performed using scanning electron microscope (SEM), and Fourier transform-infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The mechanism for the adsorption was studied. The adsorption of Hg on to freshwater fish scale could be described by Langmuir isotherm model. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

摘要:
The particle size and morphology have a strong influence on the electrochemical performance of FeS<inf>2</inf> electrodes. In this paper, a simple one-pot solvothermal method is reported for the synthesis of macroporous pyrite nanotubes for the first time. The phase composition, morphology and structure of the as-obtained products were studied by the energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), scanning electron microscopy, (high-resolution) transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction. The electrochemical properties of the FeS<inf>2</inf> samples were also investigated. The results demonstrated that the macroporous pyrite nanotubes delivered a higher initial discharge capacity of 925.2 mAh g<sup>-1</sup> and had good capacity retention. ©(2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

摘要:
Nano-Al<inf>2</inf>O<inf>3</inf> has been synthesized by homogeneous precipitation method using dodecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (DTAB) as surfactant. The as-prepared powder was characterized by FT-IR, XRD, TEM and SEM. The results indicate the surfactant existence in the precursors but disappeared in the products. This is mainly due to the combination of precursor and surfactant, which results in particles of nanosize. The nucleation and growth rate during the precipitation has also been controlled by the addition of surfactant. During the calcination process, the surfactant has decomposed and volatilized into air. The XRD characterization shows the calcined powders were γ-Al<inf>2</inf>O<inf>3</inf> particles with mean size of 27 nm, which was in accordance with TEM characterization. The morphology of the prepared alumina particles has also been investigated by SEM and showed that the powder has a spherical morphology with a uniform particle size. ©(2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

摘要:
Nanorods of platinum with an average length of 500-1000nm have been prepared by a simple reaction between H<inf>2</inf>PtCl<inf>6</inf> 6H<inf>2</inf>0 and ascorbic acid in the presence of deionized gelatin at room temperature. Gelatin played a decisive role as an inhibitor of the direct reaction of ascorbic acid with H<inf>2</inf>PtCl<inf>6</inf> 6H<inf>2</inf>0 and coagulation of the growing platinum in producing the nanorods. In the absence of gelatin, we can only obtain irregular large platinum particles. The products were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscope and X-ray photoelectron spectra. ©(2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

摘要:
To detect DNA concentration, a novel fiber optic biosensor based on fluorescence quenching was designed and constructed by using lock-in amplifier for signal measurement. A linear relationship between the relative phase delay Δφof the sensing membrane and calf thymus DNA (ctDNA) concentration was observed in range from 2.0×10<sup>-9</sup> to 4.0×10<sup>-7</sup> M in the buffer of 5.0 mM Tris-HCl and 50.0 mM NaCl (pH 7.1), and the detection limit was 8.0×10<sup>-10</sup> M. The biosensor has a response time of 65 s and shows good stability and repeatability. ©(2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

For the purpose of developing an effective Fe2O3-doped nickel-based catalysts to be used in biomass gasification, Fe2O3 nanoparticles were prepared by homogeneous precipitation method involving an aqueous solution of Fe (NO3)3·9H2O and urea as precipitator. Different approaches, such as XRD and SEM, were used to characterize the products. Meanwhile, the effects of various technical parameters in preparation process on the yield of products were investigated, and optimal conditions for preparing Fe2O3 nanoparticles were found as follows: the molar ratio of urea to Fe (NO3)3·9H2O for 5:1, temperature of precipitation reaction for 125°C, concentration of iron salt for 0.20mol/L. The Fe2O3 nanoparticles prepared under the optimal conditions were spherical in shape and well dispersed; they had high purity and a fine crystal phase of cubic syngony with a mean particle size of about 28nm.

摘要:
Dimethyl carbonate (DMC) was synthesized from carbon dioxide, propylene epoxide (PO) and methanol. The catalytic performance of K2CO3, KI, rare earth oxides including CeO2, Y2O3, La2O3 and Yb2O3 was investigated. Acceptable conversion of PO but poor selectivity to DMC was obtained using K2CO3 or KI as the sole catalyst compared to that obtained in the presence of rare earth oxides. Significant improvement in the selectivity to DMC was obtained catalyzed by co-catalyst composed of K2CO3 and Yb2O3, and 42.4% selectivity to DMC, which is higher than that obtained using K2CO3 or Yb2O3 as the sole catalyst under the identical conditions, was obtained. The influence of the amount of PO was also investigated, and the results showed that the conversion of PO is dependent on its amount.

Polystyrene microspheres were prepared by the emulsifier-free polymerization method. Using the polystyrene microspheres as seeds, 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid as template molecules, the monodispersed molecularly imprinted polymer microspheres (MIPMs) were prepared by a single-step swelling and polymerization method. The monodispersed molecular imprinted polymers with porous structure were characterized by SEM, and UV-visible spectrophotometry. The adsorption performance of MIPMs for 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid was investigated.

摘要:
In order to enhance the electrochemical performance of LiMnPO4 cathode material, we optimized the synthesis conditions of LiMnPO4 using a simple solid state reaction. The influence of factors of the pre-sintering temperature, carbon source and molar ratio of Zn to Mn, as well as the electrochemical properties of obtained LiMnPO4 powder were studied. The precursor of Zn-doping LiMnPO4/C was characterized by Differential Scanning Calorimetry and thermogravimetry. The microstructure of the samples was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The optimized LiMnPO4 cathode has good electrochemical properties and its discharge capacity could reach 140.2 mAh g-1 at 0.02 C rate and 111.3 mAh g-1 at 0.1 C rate with satisfactory cycling performance. It implies that the synthesis of LiMnPO4/C composite with excellent electrochemical performances can be achieved by a simple solid state method, which will boost the practical application of LiMnPO4 cathode materials. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Bimetallic aluminum(salen) complexes were prepared and used as catalyst for the synthesis of DPC from CO2 and phenol in the presence of carbon tetrachloride. The bimetallic complex derived from 3,5-ditert salicylaldehyde and 1,2-cyclohexanediamine revealed more excellent activity than that obtained in the presence of other complexes and the simple Lewis acid ZnCl2. The influence of the amount of complex and the reaction conditions including the pressure of CO2 and the reaction temperature was also investigated.

摘要:
For the purpose of developing a novel and effective nano-CeO<inf>2</inf> catalyst used in biomass gasification for tar removal, nanocrystalline CeO <inf>2</inf> particles were successfully prepared by the homogeneous precipitation method, and different approaches including TG, FT-IR, XRD and SEM were used to characterize the CeO<inf>2</inf> nano-particles and precursors in this study. The analysis results indicated that the synthesized precursor was hydrated cerium basic carbonates and its formula was identified as Ce <inf>2</inf>O(CO<inf>3</inf>)<inf>2</inf> nH<inf>2</inf>O, and it can completely transform into nanocrystalline CeO<inf>2</inf> particles below 400 °C under the air atmosphere. The prepared CeO<inf>2</inf> nano-particles were found spherical in shape and well dispersed;they had high purity and a fine crystal phase of cubic syngony structure with a mean size of 13 nm. ©(2012) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

摘要:
To detect DNA concentration, a novel fiber optic biosensor based on fluorescence quenching was designed and constructed by using lock-in amplifier for signal measurement. The sensor head was fixed on a sensing membrane prepared by the mixture of ethyl silicate, formamide, HCl and fluorescence indicator [Ru(phen)<inf>3</inf>]<sup>2+</sup>. The optimal film-forming conditions were that the contents of [Ru(phen)<inf>3</inf>]Cl<inf>2</inf>, HCl and formamide were 2.1 mg/ml, 12 % and 16 % respectively, the aging temperature and time of sol-gel solution were 4°C and 5 d, and the film-forming temperature and time were 4°C and 48 h, respectively. A linear relationship between the relative phase delay ΔΦof sensing membrane and ctDNA concentration was observed in range from 2.0×10<sup>-9</sup> to 4.0×10<sup>-7</sup> M in Tris buffer, and the detection limit is 8.0×10<sup>-10</sup> M. 摘要:
Spherical assembly composed of MnO2 nanoparticles with an average diameter of 0.8-2.0 am have been prepared using spent Zn-Mn batteries. The product was characterized by X-ray powder diffraction and scanning electron microscope. The adsorption performance of spherical assembly composed of MnO2 for methyl red was investigated. The adsorbent showed high efficiency for the removal of methyl red in water. The equilibrium of adsorption was achieved within 30 min. The isotherm adsorption data obeyed the Langmuir model, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 92.6 mg g(-1).

摘要:
The catalytic pyrolysis of palm oil wastes for fuel gas production was experimentally investigated in a combined fixed bed reactor using the developed nano-NiO/γ-Al<inf>2</inf>O<inf>3</inf> catalyst. The results indicated that the nano-NiO/γ-Al<inf>2</inf>O<inf>3</inf> catalyst had greater activity for the cracking of tar in vapor and of hydrocarbons and a higher hydrogen yield than the commercial nickel-based catalyst in catalytic pyrolysis of palm oil wastes. Meanwhile, a series of experiments have been performed to explore the effects of temperature and biomass particle size on gas composition and gas yield. The experiments demonstrated that temperature was the most important factor in this process, higher temperature contributed to more hydrogen production and gas yield. It was also shown that a smaller particle was more favorable for gas quality and yield. ©2012 IEEE.

Magnetic Fe3O4@SiO2 composite microspheres were prepared using hydrolyzation of tetraethoxysilane and Fe3O4 nanoparticles as seeds, and then the resultant composite particles were modified with silane coupling agent 3-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxy silane. The products were characterized by scanning electron microscope, X-ray powder diffraction, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and vibrating-sanple magnetometry, respectively. The results clearly show that the magnetic particles have favorable superparamagnetism and remain strong magnetic response. Moreover, the duplex bonds of carbon functional groups from 3-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxy silane was introduced onto the suface of Fe3O4@SiO2 composite particles.

摘要:
The catalytic steam gasification of municipal solid waste (MSW) for hydrogen-rich fuel gas production was experimentally investigated in a combined fixed bed reactor using the newly developed tri-metallic catalyst. The results indicated that the supported tri-metallic catalyst had a high activity of cracking tar and hydrocarbons, upgrading the gas quality, as well as yielding a high hydrogen production in catalytic steam gasification of municipal solid waste. A series of experiments have been performed to explore the effects of catalyst presence, catalyst to MSW mass ratio (C/M), catalytic temperature, steam to MSW ratio (S/M) and MSW particle size on the composition and yield of gasification gases. The experiments demonstrated that temperature was the most important factor in this process; higher temperature contributed to more hydrogen production and gas yield. Varying catalyst to MSW mass ratio (C/M) demonstrated complex effects on gas yield and composition of MSW gasification and an optimal value of 0.5 was found in the present study. Comparing with MSW catalytic gasification, the introduction of steam improved gas quality and yield, the optimal value of S/M was found to be 1.33 under the present operating condition. It was also shown that a smaller particle size was more favorable for gas quality and yield. © 2012 Elsevier Ltd.

The performance of native eggshell membrane in removing of Congo Red (CR) from aqueous solution was investigated. The effect of pH, adsorbent concentration, temperature, and contact time were performed by static testing. The maximum biosorption was both observed at pH 7.0 on the eggshell membrane. Optimal adsorption capacity (112.3 mg g<sup>-1</sup>) at initial concentration 10 mg L-1 and rate (99.17%) was obtained at pH 6.8. Characterization of the biosorbent eggshell membrane was performed using scanning electron microscope (SEM), and Fourier transform-infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The kinetic and equilibrium studies suggest that the adsorption follows Langmuir isotherm model. ©(2012) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

A simple solid phase extraction procedure for adsorption and preconcentration of manganese(II, VII) in environmental water samples has been proposed prior to inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. The procedure presented based on quantitative recoveries of manganese >95%. In this work, the potential use of eggshell membrane(ESM), a typical biomaterial, as solid-phase extraction (SPE) adsorbent is evaluated for analysis of trace manganese. The analytical variables, pH, flow rate, sample volume, elution, coexisting ions for optimum recoveries of manganese (II) and manganese (VII) were investigated. The preconcentration factor was 60. The detection limit (3σ) of manganese was 0.031 ng L<sup>-1</sup>. The relative standard deviations of determination was found to be 3.21%. The procedure was successfully applied to the adsorption and determination of manganese in environmental water samples. ©(2012) Trans Tech Publications.
