Recently, few-shot learning has received considerable attention from researchers. Compared to deep learning, which requires abundant data for training, few-shot learning only requires a few labeled samples. Therefore, few-shot learning has been extensively used in scenarios in which a large number of samples cannot be obtained. However, effectively extracting features from a limited number of samples are the most important problem in few-shot learning. To solve this limitation, a multi-local feature relation network (MLFRNet) is proposed to improve the accuracy of few-shot image classification. First, we obtain the local sub-images of each image by random cropping, which is used to obtain local features. Second, we propose support-query local feature attention by exploring local feature relationships between the support and query sets. Using the local feature attention, the importance of local features of each class prototype can be calculated to classify query data. Moreover, we explore local feature relationship between the support set and the support set, and we propose support-support local feature similarity. Using local feature similarity, we can adaptively determine the margin loss of the local features, which then improves the network accuracy. Experiments on two benchmark datasets show that the proposed MLFRNet achieves state-of-the-art performance. In particular, for the miniImageNet dataset, the proposed method achieves 66.79% (1-shot) and 83.16% (5-shot) accuracy.

Pseudorabies (PR) is an acute infectious disease caused by pseudorabies virus (PRV). There are no available drugs due to the emergence of variant of PRV. Dihydromyricetin (DMY) is a flavonoid extracted from Ampelopsis grossedentata (A. grossedentata), which has a variety of pharmacological activities. In this study, we aim to investigate the in vitro anti-PRV activity of DMY extracted from A. grossedentata. MTT assay was used to detect the cytotoxicity and antiviral activity of DMY. The results detected by flow cytometry and qRT-PCR showed that DMY played anti-PRV role mainly by interfering with the process of virus invasion into host cell and inhibiting the occurrence of pyroptosis in vitro. This suggested that anti-pyroptosis may be an important antiviral mechanism for DMY which is expected to be a potential anti-PRV drug.

The traditional systemic chemotherapy through intravenous infusion of doxorubicin (DOX) has many side effects. The aim of this study was to develop a PLGA-based DOX-loaded implant and to evaluate the efficacy and drug metabolism distribution of the implant in intratumoral chemotherapy for osteosarcoma (OS). In this study, implants containing DOX, poly(d,l-lactide-co-glycolide), and polyethylene glycol 4000 were prepared by melt-molding method. Then, the antitumor activity and systemic drug distribution of the implants were tested in a K7M2 OS bearing mouse model. The scanning electron microscope images showed that DOX was uniformly dispersed in the polymer matrix. Both the in vitro and in vivo release profiles of implants are characterized by three-phase release. Implantation of DOX-loaded implants into tumors can inhibit tumor growth in a dose-dependent manner. The pharmacokinetic behavior shows that intratumor chemotherapy through implants has a much higher drug concentration in tumors than in normal tissues, which may be the reason for improving antitumor activity and reducing systemic side effects. In summary, the drug release of the implants prepared in this study is sustained and stable, which promotes long-term local accumulation of drugs in tumors, improves the efficacy of chemotherapy and has low toxicity to normal tissues.

The mature pericarp of Citri Reticulatae 'Chachi' (PCRC) is one of the six traditional Chinese medicinal materials that should be used after long storage, and it was regarded that the longer the medicine was stored, the better. However, the aging mechanism of the medicine is not clear. To further investigate the effect of aging on the main active flavonoids of PCRC, ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) and metabolomics analysis were used to analyze the flavonoids of PCRC stored for different periods. In the results, 219 flavonoids were detected. 5,7,3',4',5'-pentamethoxy dihydroflavone and 2'-hydroxy-3,4,5,3' 4',6'-hexamethoxychalcone were found from PCRC for the first time. According to the clustering analysis of metabolites, aging times of 0 year, 1 year, and 2 year were clustered into one group, and aging times of 3 year, 4 year, and 29 year were clustered into the other group. Quantitative analysis showed that the former group contained a greater amount of 4 flavonoids than the latter group, while the latter group contained a greater amount of 15 poly-methoxyflavonoids. The newly harvested PCRC was compared with the other 5 groups of PCRC (stored for 1, 2, 3, 4, and 29 years). Eight flavonoids, tectochrysin, apigenin, 2'-hydroxyisoflavone, luteolin, 6-hydroxyluteolin, gallocatechin, quercetin -O- acetylhexoside and apigenin -7-O-[beta-D-glucuronide (1 -> 2) -O-beta-D-glucuronide], were used as marker components to discriminate newly harvested PCRC and aging PCRC. In addition, the antioxidant potency composite index (APC) indicated that the PCRC stored for three or four years had stronger antioxidant activity than the PCRC stored for other periods. By means of molecular docking, it was reviewed that the amount of antiviral components against SARS-CoV-2 in freshly harvested PCRC was significantly higher than that in aging PCRC. The results in this study supplied scientific data for quality control, evaluation, and rational utilization of PCRC and basic information for further analysis of the metabolic regulation of the active components of the PCRC. Road detection is defined as one of the core technology of Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS), and this problem is important for improving the recognition accuracy and speed. Though much work has been done concerning road detection, the related questions about non-road areas are not thoroughly considered. Understanding the question is of primary importance in ADAS, we proposed an improved algorithm based on deep learning network for road image redundancy removal. Compared with the most typical road recognition methods, the experimental results show that the proposed method improves the speed of road recognition greatly, while ensuring the accuracy of road recognition to high level.

Purple flowering stalks and green flowering stalks of Brassica campestris are widely cultivated in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River. Here, concentrations of the main health-promoting compounds and antioxidant capacity levels were characterized in different parts (leaves, peel, flesh, and inflorescences) of purple and green flowering stalks. There were significant differences in the concentrations of health-promoting compounds between the two variants; the concentrations of pigments, especially anthocyanidins, and gluconapin, were significantly higher in purple flowering stalks than in green flowering stalks, and the progoitrin content was significantly higher in green flowering stalks than in purple flowering stalks. The leaves were judged to be the most nutritional edible part because they had the highest concentrations of pigments, ascorbic acid, proanthocyanidins, flavonoids, and total phenolics. Antioxidant capacity was also highest in the leaves, and it was positively correlated with the concentration of health-promoting compounds. Purple flowering stalks and green flowering stalks were found to be rich in health-promoting compounds, especially glucosinolates. Overall, our findings indicate that consumption of the leaves and peel would provide the most health benefits. Some suggestions are provided regarding the processing and utilization of these edible components.

Pasting, cooking, and digestible properties of Japonica rice with different amylose contents were investigated. Low-, medium-, and high-amylose Japonica rice (waxy, 18.8% amylose content, and 33.3% amylose content) were cooked and evaluated for water absorption, volume expansion, molecular mobility, microstructure, crystalline structure, and starch digestibility. The results showed that high-amylose rice had lower peak viscosity but higher pasting temperature and final viscosity than low- and medium-amylose rice. After cooking, high-amylose rice showed slightly higher water absorption ratio but lower volume expansion ratio than the other two rice varieties. Water was more evenly distributed in cooked low- and medium-amylose rice than in cooked high-amylose rice. After cooking, starch in low- and medium-amylose rice kernels almost lost the entire crystalline structure, but starch of cooked high-amylose rice still exhibited strong V-type crystallinity. Cooked high-amylose rice contained higher content of resistant starch than cooked rice of other two varieties.

In this work, the iron-containing smectite nontronite (NNT) was artificially prepared by hydrothermal process and used as a heterogeneous catalyst to activate bisulfite (BS) for degradation of tetracycline (TC). Two NNT samples with different iron content (NNT1 and NNT2) were characterized by XRD, FTIR, XPS and SEM-EDS analysis. Under dark condition, the TC removal rates of NNT1/BS and NNT2/BS reached about 91.7% and 95.5% respectively at 60 min. Due to the heterogeneous catalysis of structural Fe(III), the NNT catalysts showed great catalytic activity and low iron leaching at the pH range 3.0-7.5. In addition, NNT particles were also stable and reusable in activating BS for TC removal. According to the EPR and radical quenching experiments, it could be proved that the precursor radical (SO3-)-S-center dot was first generated in NNT/BS system, then (SO4-)-S-center dot and (OH)-O-center dot were the active species that played a role in TC degradation. The synthetic NNT clay is a promising Fe-based catalyst for treatment of TC wastewater thanks to its high activity, good stability and effective reusability.

We use two-site quantum nonlocality to identify the topological quantum phase transitions (TQPTs) of the extended Ising model driven by varying system parameters. We investigate how the system parameters, including the anisotropies of the nearest-neighbor and the next-nearest-neighbor spin pairs, the transverse magnetic field, and the three-spin interaction, affect the quantum nonlocality. We show that the nonlocality cannot mark any TQPTs while its first derivative can perfectly characterize the TQPTs. By making the influences of the thermal fluctuations and the site distance of spin pairs on the critical behavior of the TQPTs analysis, we show that the sufficiently low temperature has a slight impact on the features of nonlocality and its first derivative while the site distance of spin pairs can significantly alter the properties of nonlocality and its first derivative. We further present the energy spectra and the trajectories of the winding vectors of the model to demonstrate that the quantum nonlocality can be employed to successfully signalize the TQPTs.

Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS), a viral infection caused by PRRS virus (PRRSV) can result in severe reproductive failure, and respiratory disease in the pigs thus causing enormous economic losses to the global swine industry. Although the cellular receptors for PRRSV have been identified, but mechanisms underlying PPRSV replication remain obscure. Here, we have performed a genome-scale CRISPR/Cas9 knockout screen in the pig kidney cells with PRRSV. Several genes were found to be highly enriched post-PRRSV selection, just like KxDL Motif Containing 1(KXD1), Proteasome 26S Subunit, Non-ATPase 3 (PSMD3) and Galectin 2 (LGALS2) and soon on. Importantly, we have identified that loss of KXD1 resulted in the restricted autophagy and inhibited replication of PRRSV. Therefore, our study demonstrates that CRISPR/Cas9 system can be effectively used for the screening of pig factors responsible for PRRSV replication.

We report a self-assembly method for the fabrication of multilayer-starch-based microgels used for anthocyanin encapsulation. Alcohol-heating treatment and ionization reactions were employed to reduce the crystallinity of starch and introduce ionic groups on the molecule to further cross-link it with sodium trimetaphosphate and produce a starch microgel. The molecular interactions between the starch and the anthocyanins facilitated the anthocyanin encapsulation and the starch-microgel/anthocyanin complexes with one, two, and three self-assembled layers were obtained. The Lay-1 microgel exhibited an encapsulation efficiency of 50.1% when the anthocyanin concentration, cross-linking starch concentration, contact time, and temperature were 0.25mg/mL, 1.5mg/mL, 3h, and 40°C, respectively. An increase in the number of layers resulted in a more compact microgel structure with the zeta potential presenting variations upon structural changes. Furthermore, the encapsulated anthocyanins presented a slow release from Lay-1, while the multilayered microgels (Lay-2 and Lay-3) displayed outstanding encapsulation stability. This study gives an insight on the encapsulation and release of anthocyanins by starch microgels, and provides a novel strategy for the design of starch-based encapsulation materials presenting great stability.
