Proficient communication in English is essential for accessing information, enhancing the visitor experience, and driving sustainable tourism development. The study emphasizes the importance of proficient communication in English for sustainable tourism development, particularly in the context of leisure tourism. It assesses the role of Tourism English in facilitating the comprehensive utilization of new energy sources, using data from Sina microblogging and various quantitative methods. Findings reveal significant associations between tourism attitude, situational factors, new energy consumption, and sustainability concerns. Specifically, hypothesis assessment is described. The study employs an Improved Attention-based Deep Convolutional Neural Network (IA-DCNN) to predict Tourism English in leisure tourism. The results underscore the importance of addressing new energy consumption and English proficiency for promoting sustainable leisure tourism practices. Investing in Tourism English education and training programs is recommended to enhance destination competitiveness and mitigate environmental impacts.

The semiotic landscape serves as a matrix in which cultural codes and historical values are expressed through symbolic forms. Applying Lefebvre’s theory of social space as the analytical framework and drawing on interviews with local residents, this study examines how the semiotic landscape of the former Russian concession in Hankow, Wuhan, integrates linguistic, cultural, political and historical elements to transform the area’s identity, reshaping it from an ‘occupied region’ to a popular cultural attraction. The findings reveal that the semiotic landscape reflects a dynamic interplay among power relations, culture promotion and political purpose. The semiotic landscape is modified mainly through three approaches: enhancing and idealising historical narratives, recontextualizing existing semiotic resources and introducing new artistic appeal on the old symbols. The reconstruction of the semiotic landscape aims to reverse public perception of the regional identity, while also adapting the collective memory to foster a renewed image of the region. Tea emerges as a significant cultural symbol, acting as an intermediary that receives emphasis in the landscape and strengthens the public’s emotional connection to the area. This study highlights the role of semiotic landscapes as active archives of historical and social evolution, demonstrating how memory and identity are continuously redefined through it.

Mass transport Complexes (MTCs) form significant sediment accumulations in continental slopes, hold key insights for natural hazard prediction and offshore oil exploration. This paper uses high-definition 3D seismic data to reconstruct the seismic geomorphology and sedimentary dynamics of MTCs, meticulously exploring the depositional systems of the Tanaraki Basin, New Zealand. It deciphers by kinematic notation, seismic faciess, quantifies megaclast morphological characteristics, in conjunction with the basal slope and channel structure development as the migration or kinematics of MTCs. Five seismic facies categories and dynamic traits—compression ridges, thrust faults, slides, grooves and slope terraces are distinguished in MTCs. Based on attributes maps and geomorphological interpretations, MTCs is segmented into four zones, showing combined effects of levée, basal slopes, and megaclast clusters on its migration. Lithological and topographical variations along these features modulate erosion properties and MTCs mobility, with base height shifts guiding local migration trajectories. The results of megaclast parameters in Zones 1 and 3 tune our understanding of stress patterns and directionality shifts, highlighting the complex dynamics at play. Notably, the differential motion triggered by levees instigates longitudinal shear zones. At critical migration disparities, MTCs fracture at these weak points, discharging pore pressure and filling fractures with fines, birthing “promontory” formations marked by low-amplitude fills. This work, therefore, establishes a groundbreaking migratory model that synthesizes the impacts of levees height, rock type variability, and megaclasts accumulation intensity, depicting a fragmented migration pattern. This study not only enriches our grasp of MTCs behavior in deep-water contexts but also furnishes a robust scientific foundation and predictive tool for gauging the hazards that MTCs may pose to underwater structures, thus carrying substantial theoretical and applied significance.

The language items present in the linguistic landscape are deeply embedded in history, often bearing varied time references and indexical loads. This study explores the preserved linguistic landscape of a former concession area in Wuhan, China to elucidate the intricate interplay of multi-layered historical meanings that intersect and converge in the public space. By employing the theoretical constructs of chronotope and polyphony, this study examines how the area is transformed into a liminal space in linguistic and symbolic terms. The findings indicate that the preserved linguistic landscape can be categorised into three types based on time-space configurations: preliminal chronotope, liminal chronotope, and postliminal chronotope, corresponding to signs in original forms, signs refurbished while retaining the original texts, and signs incorporating original texts and new additions. These signs symbolically reference the past, present and future, embodying historical and cultural preservation, reflecting societal and economic development, and enhancing the city's appeal as a tourist destination. This research contributes to understanding the complex discourses and communicative dynamics within linguistic landscape, offering insights into the interplay between history, culture, and language in public spaces.
